Dedem Korkut Kitabı’nda İnce Anlam Ayırımı I: Kara Benzer, Kaza Benzer

Özet

It is noteworthy that some structures and patterns are repeated in the Dedem Qorqut Kitabi, but these repeated structures and patterns do not consist of the same words each time. The researchers of the Dedem Qorqut Kitabi did not reflect the changes in these structures and patterns in their studies, and they corrected the words that changed in these structures on the grounds that they were misspelled and transferred them to the transcription. The pair ḳaza beŋzer ḳızı gelini and ḳara beŋzer ḳızı gelini that we will examine in this study is one of these. The researchers repaired the word ḳara, which occurs in the form ḳara beŋzer ḳızı gelini, by looking at the form ḳaza in other places in the text. However, when the context in which this pair is used is taken into consideration, it becomes clear that it is not misspelled, and that the difference between the pair stems from a subtle distinction in meaning. The subtle distinction in meaning (semantic nuance) between the repeated lines in the Dedem Qorqut Kitabi is achieved by changing the words. In this study, it has been argued that the changes in some structures repeated in the Dedem Qorqut Kitabi are necessary changes originating from meaning; it has been defended that the forms ḳara and ḳaza in the patterns ḳaza beŋzer ḳızı gelini and ḳara beŋzer ḳızı gelini are written correctly and should be read as written. Repairing the word ḳara in the line ḳara beŋzer ḳızı gelini by looking at the form ḳaza in the line ḳaza beŋzer ḳızı gelini does not create any problem regarding the superstructure (sound, form) of the line. When considered with a structuralist approach, it can be said that this repair is correct since it provides unity between the lines. However, this repair is not correct since it negatively affects the deep structure of the line. The deep structure (meaning) of the line shows that the word in question is ḳara and should not be repaired.
